Hi Reader! Last week, I was knee deep in a few things:
So I didn't have much spare time. (And the spare time I DID have was spent watching — and yelling at — season 2 of Lost.) But there was sooooomething in the back of my head that I was anxious to address. Sooooomething that kept saying, "but what about me, Kelsey?" with sad puppy dog eyes. And it wasn't my actual puppy — 12-year-old Finn — as he's quite content to spend the day by himself on the couch. No, no ... It was MY WEBSITE. It was craving a redo, a refresh, a zhuzh, it wanted a full-blown GET-YOUR-SHIT-TOGETHER-LADY. Makes total sense. I've been neglecting it lately — something I would absolutely admonish you for doing — and it's, well, time to get my shit together. I, personally, *love* seeing shit get put together, so I thought ... Would you like to come along with me, Reader?! I don't know how I'm gonna show it yet. Or the timeline I'm gonna do it in. Or the wireframe I'm gonna follow. Or the wine glasses I'll have consumed before everything is juuuuuust right. But I know my attention is turning to my website. For the next two weeks, I'd say. (Loosely ... because I really like to cancel things and just stay home.) Here's a quick outline of what I'm fixin' to fix: Strategize my navigation and UX. Right now, I have a few offers going on:
I want to think about *your* journey through my site, and how you interact with those services and figure out which one is best for you. This task will be one of the first things I do because it will dictate everything else. Write sales page for new offer. A sales page offer, actually! The people (maybe you?) are asking for me to take sales pages off their plates. Up until now, though, I've been doing it "under the table." So I've got to get a proper sexy offer page up and running. Update copy everywhere. I'm your favorite copywriter, so I want to give you WORDS. I love a long a sales page (if you're gonna buy something, you want to know about it), so each and every offer is getting a glow-up. Update my inquiry form. It's rather basic right now. And I want a meaningful, but FUN inquiry form. Gonna let some creativity fly. Clean up my SEO. The little stuff — like alt tags and titles and how your pages show up in browser tabs. The stuff I hate to do, but won't hire for. Little bibs and bobs. The ones that will inevitably derail me from everything I just listed. Fun! Whaddya say? Want to come along for a behind-the-scenes website overhaul-ish? If so — GIVE ME YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT WEBSITES! You might be wondering things like ...
Hit reply and rattle off your Qs (honestly, I wouldn't hate the accountability). Okay, I'm off to procrastinate on my website now! Much love ✌️ Kelsey |

Pink hair. An adorable accent. Tattoos, jewelry, and bright vintage outfits. She’s not even afraid to show her tummy, which — if I may comment on another woman’s body — is what I would call "normal." (And I’m so RELIEVED by that.) I found her last week. And though she probably doesn’t neeeeeed me to help add to her 893K audience, I do think she might be worth a look if you have the time. Florence Given took over my life (and motivation) last week. I binged and binged and binged. Couldn’t look...
I had a bit of an epiphany last week, Reader. It was: 12-year-old Me would be so disappointed in 34-year-old Me. 12-year-old Me had her shit together. She kept her checkbook up to date (god bless the 90s). She had a growing savings account thanks to never spending a CENT from birthday money. She always wrote thank you notes on time. 12-year-old Me was building a future of keeping that shit together, of staying aware of deadlines, of being proactive. Sooooooo, like I said ... 12-year-old Me...
I don't *need* you to agree with me on this, Reader, but I think you will ... Bullshit on prep and cooking times. BULLSHIT. To every single food blogger: WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO US. I don’t have “evidence” that you post these impossible cooking times in order to break our spirits .............. but I have an intuition. “Have 20 minutes and nothing to do? Whip up these Caviar-Style Seaweed Pearls on Blini with Crème Fraîche.” “Have 10 minutes and some old ricotta in the back of the fridge? Try...
