Because I'm wishing — as HARD AS I POSSIBLY CAN — that it can be 2002 again and *I* can be the one who writes boring posts about what I'm cooking and then get the Julie and Julia movie deal. My latest blog was an end-of-the-year requirement. Because if you don't post a recap of the current year, or trends for the following year, then ... honestly, you're probably just actually enjoying your holidays, and good for you. I wrote the requirement: Copywriting Trends for 2025. A dreadfully boring title, but hey — gotta cash in on that SEO. I wrote it after peeping what a few others were forecasting as trends for 2025. And I hated them all. "Consistent Branding." Ummm. You're talking to the girl with a spatchcocked Instagram grid and a website that gives her heartburn. "Personalization." Like how, if someone hasn't given me their first name, I call them "Crumbcake" in my emails? "Storytelling still matters." OBVIOUSLY. That ain't groundbreaking. I figured you, Crumbcake, were seeing the same things so I wanted to give you something better. And I did. (Says my mom.) Here are THE* copywriting trends to follow in 2025 if you want to sell your stuff and not hate everything along the way. *according to me in for 2025 SENDING EMAILS YOUR SUBSCRIBERS ACTUALLY WANT TO READ For some of you, I'll amend this to: START sending emails ... (And, oh by the way, I'll have everything you'll need for that in 2025). Email is your ticket to sales and a sustainable business. Not to mention all of the benefits of regular writing. It is my single non-negotiable in my business. (Now my ugly IG grid makes sense to you.) And it's my single biggest revenue driver. in for 2025 WRITING AND TALKING ABOUT YOUR OFFERS. ALL. THE. TIME. A funny thing happened to me in 2024. The second I stopped talking about my offers, people stopped buying them. The second I stopped handing out my subscribe link, people stopped subscribing. Write and talk about your offers with abandon. Once YOU'RE bored of (and a little annoyed with) yourself, your audience will start to hear what you're saying. in for 2025 WRITING BEFORE SCROLLING (ACTUALLY — *NO* SCROLLING. PERIOD.) If I won anything in 2024, it was the comparison game. I was SO DAMN GOOD at comparing myself to anyone. Thanks solely to scrolling. It took up faaarrr too much brain space than I care to admit, and it halted a LOT of progress I could have made in my business this year. 2025 is the year that we all quit that self-sabotage. I promise you: there is no magic inspiration awaiting you at the end of a “disciplined” scroll. There’s not. There’s just not. What ACTUALLY happens is that you “accidentally” come across your high school nemesis’s Facebook page and spend three hours searching for LITERALLY ANY flaw in her perfect-ass Christmas photos. (So happy you’re happy, Laney.) And that doesn’t help your writing. Or your sense of self. Or your wrinkles. In 2025, we're not scrolling. We're writing. Speaking of ... in for 2025 WRITING — don't panic — EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Even if it's a little note to your dog. Writing is a muscle. You have to work it if you want it to get strong. And the benefits of writing every day are freaking amaaaazing.
In fact, I'm publicly announcing to you (without much thought) that in 2025, I'm going to write at least 750 words every day. (Is it too late to delete that?) in for 2025 COPY WITH*OUT* URGENCY I see tooooooo many sales pages with some combination of:
And it makes me sad each time because this kind of copywriting takes away from your product, and positions you desperately. 2025 is the year we stop stacking offers, chucking out last-minute discounts, and using "you will die tomorrow if you don't buy this" kind of copy. We're going to be CONFIDENT in our offers. Because they're pretty damn cool on their own. in for 2025 SWIPE FILES. NOT TEMPLATES. I'm STOKED about this.
